Cubs swap Video Games for afternoon of traditional Games

4th February 2015
50 Cubs from across the District recently left their video games behind for a games afternoon of the more traditional variety.

After taking a break in 2014, the District Cub Games competition returned this year with 18 packs sending teams to enjoy an afternoon of board and other games.

With games such as jenga, snakes and ladders, connect 4, darts and shove ha’penny (with actual halfpennies), the teams of 3 had to use strategy and teamwork to succeed against their opponents.

Steve Cootes, lead volunteer for Cubs in Thurrock, thought the afternoon was an enjoyable one: “The afternoon was good fun and there was a great atmosphere. It was great to see the teams discussing tactics and what moves to make next.

After all the points from the day were totalled, it was Thameside Orion who were victorious with 1st Ockendon second and 7th Grays Cromwell third.

Many thanks have to go to Aveley, 2nd Corringham and Orsett and Bulphan Leopards who organised the event, along with the Leaders who helped on the day.
