Scouts kayak, run and cycle in annual Triathlon

15th June 2015
A new venue, Thriftwood Scout Activity Centre, proved popular for competitors and supporters for this year’s Triathlon, even the sun shone all day.

The triathlon consisted of 4 laps of Kayaking around the course on the lake, followed by a run in one area of the wood before a cycle ride on a circular route on the main track.

Nine troops and two Explorer units battled out in the various events around this challenging course. The individual over 12.5 year old event provided plenty of excitement and it was impossible to split the 1st two competitors home from 7th Grays & Thameside. We also had an entertaining combined event for Leaders, SAS and Explorers, with one Explorer taking three teams.

At the end of the day, when all the points were in, the final results were:

Scouts:
1st, 7th Grays, Joint 2nd – 1st Ockendon & Thameside with 1st Corringham – Intrepid just behind them.

Explorers:
1st Aquila, with all points being gained by Rhys Dell. 2nd Pyxis.

The success of this event was down to Chris Travis and his many helpers, thank you.
