Tilbury celebrate Group’s 70th Birthday

16th September 2016
Tilbury Sea Scout Group turned 70 this year and decided to hold a Birthday Group Camp recently at Thriftwood to celebrate.

The camp was decorated with balloons and lights and a large cake in the style of their group scarf was also made which everyone received a slice of to take home.

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts also enjoyed various activities over the weekend including crate stacking, cresta run, water rollers and fishing. The young people also had the chance to build dens or bivouacs and some of the Cubs and Scouts even braved the night in them!

Saturday night saw the young people joining the rest of the campsite for a campfire, before returning back to site to cook some marshmallows.

James, a Scout said “I really liked the cresta run because it was fun and cool. I also liked singing around the campfire.” “I enjoyed the water rollers the most,”added Cub Ellie.

Ian, the Group Scout Leader thought the weekend was a great success. “It was a great way to celebrate the Group’s milestone and it meant the whole Group, from Beavers through to the Leaders, could be involved.”
